Honda HR-V Wins AM New Car of the Year Award

Honda’s new SUV, the HR-V has recently been awarded the ‘New Car of the Year’ award at the AM Awards.

The award is even more impressive considering it is voted for by AM’s dealer audience in an online vote.

The vehicle was first shown off at the Paris Motor Show in October 2014 as an attempt by the manufacturer to break into the increasingly popular small SUV market.

The current HR-V is a rebooted version of the original model which was produced between 1999 and 2006.

The HR-V went on sale in the summer of 2015 and is notable for utilising a centre fuel tank location to maximise space in the car’s interior.

The vehicle also has a unique exterior based on a coupé with sharp, dynamic lines.

Stephen Briers, Editor in Chief at AM magazine, commented: “It was an important launch for the brand in 2015 and took Honda back into a rapidly growing market segment.

“Now AM readers have voted the HR-V a winner, thanks to its coupé-like looks, impressive practicability, efficient engines and keen pricing.

“Although supply is constrained, this car will do wonders for its dealers and is attracting new customers out of other brands.”

Phillip Crossman, Managing Director of Honda UK, added: “This is a fantastic accolade for the new HR-V to pick up and just shows how popular the car is proving both with dealers and customers alike.

“Sixteen years after the original HR-V launched and our return to the crossover segment, which we pioneered with the first generation HR-V, has been massively successful with overwhelming demand across our retail network.”
