Diesel Engine Oil
Engine Oil for Diesel Cars
While you may well love your diesel engine, it’s a known fact that they generate more soot during the combustion process. This soot, along with other byproducts means you need to be absolutely sure that you’re using the best oil for diesel engines. The right oil will make your engine run smoothly, last longer and operate at its highest performance.
In addition to the increased sediment, diesel motor oils are designed to put up with the higher temperatures diesel engines reach.
At Cox Motor Parts we have years of experience in supplying engine oil for diesel and petrol vehicles. We know what it takes to keep your diesel engine running as smoothly as possible. You’ll find a range of fully synthetic oil & lubricants created by Castrol, Mobil and Honda that are perfect for your diesel engine.

Can you put diesel engine oil in a petrol car?
Notes – I’d like to try and rank for this people also ask result, please look at what is currently ranking, what the answer is, how it’s structured and try to make some content that’s better than what is displayed in the also asked results currently
Absolutely! You can use diesel motor oil in either type of engine and it should work absolutely fine. You just need to make sure that it’s still the right oil for your needs.
To check this you’ll need to work out whether the diesel oil:
- Matches the viscosity requirements
- Offers protection against your driving conditions
As fully synthetic diesel oils are designed for higher temperatures they can generally be used to cover the less extreme temperatures normal motor oil is designed for.
We would not recommend you use petrol oil in a diesel engine though.
Can you mix diesel oil with regular oil?
Notes – I’d like to try and rank for this people also ask result, please look at what is currently ranking, what the answer is, how it’s structured and try to make some content that’s better than what is displayed in the also asked results currently
Yes, you can technically mix your diesel oil with regular motor oil. In the short term this shouldn’t be much of a problem as each is a synthetic oil that’s been created in similar ways. This means that mixing the oils won’t cause any negative by-products to be created.
But, and there is a but, it’s not recommended that you mix these oils over a long period. You won’t gain any major benefits and you could lose out on the optimal performance that the original oil was engineered to offer. This would be a short term solution rather than a long term fix.
