How long does a Civic clutch last?

On average most clutches will last around 60,000 miles. However, this varies and will depend on how well the car is maintained and how you use the clutch. Improper use of the clutch can shorten the life of the car part, meaning you’ll need a new one sooner.

There are a few key signs to look out for if you’re concerned your clutch set might be on the way out.

Shifting gears

One of the key signs to look out for happens when you change gears while driving. If it becomes harder to shift between gears than usual, you may be experiencing clutch issues.

Clutch pedal issues

The pedal is one of the key components of your vehicle and allows you to smoothly change gears without stopping the vehicle. When you put pressure on the pedal, this briefly disconnects the wheels from the engine, allowing us to safely alter gear.

If your pedal starts to feel spongy, sticks or vibrates when you press it, you need to look at whether your clutch is working properly. You also need to keep an eye out for a grumbling or squeaking noise when pressing the pedal.

Loss of acceleration

Another key sign to look out for is momentary short losses of acceleration. If this happens when you’re driving, the clutch kit in your Civic might be the issue.

Poor acceleration

When you can rev the engine like normal but the car is accelerating poorly, this is another sign you might need a new clutch set.

What comes in a full clutch kit?

The clutch system in a car is made up of several vital components. These are a flywheel, clutch disc, clutch pressure plate, clutch release bearing, master cylinder, clutch hose, pedal, pedal position switch and the reservoir and reservoir hose.

At Cox Motor Parts, each clutch kit for Honda Civics will come complete with a pressure plate, cover and release bearings. We also sell flywheels and master cylinders for some Civic models.

Check the specifics for your vehicle model and engine to find out which parts are included.

How much does it cost to replace the clutch on a Honda Civic?

The cost of replacing the clutch kit on a Honda Civic will vary depending on which car parts need replacing and the costs of labour to fit a replacement.

If your clutch needs replacing, it’s important to do it as soon as possible. Find the right clutch set for your Honda Civic model and transmission and then replace your clutch kit to ensure the safety of your vehicle.
